Long Island On Demand Storage: Clearing Clutter, Delivering Convenience & Simplifying Storage

The largest, longest and most populated island in the contiguous U.S., Long Island, known for its proximity to Manhattan, beautiful beaches and insufferable traffic, is a place that over seven million people call home. There are a lot of different features that attract families and individuals to the fish shaped island. Good schools, a plethora of food choices, plenty of things to do no matter the time of year, and diverse suburban housing options are just some of the alluring aspects of Long Island.

Plus, the extra space! Instead of living on top of one another like residents in New York City do, Long Islanders can enjoy the luxury of having a backyard, spare rooms and decent square footage. But even with more living space than those residing in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or The Bronx, Nassau County and Suffolk County residents still have a serious need for storage solutions.

While there are a lot of storage facilities located on Long Island, the majority of those storage facilities are self-storage. Now, you might ask, “What’s wrong with that?” Plenty if you’re someone who is lacking in the time and resources to bring your belongings in and out of a self-storage unit.

Here’s the trouble with self-storage units, they don’t offer much to their customers other than the rented space! It is up to you to get your belongings into the storage unit. You have to find a friend or family member who has a vehicle large enough to fit your things into, convince them to let you borrow it (sometimes borrowing both them and the vehicle!) for however long it takes to load it up, drive it to the facility, and unload it, or shout out the money to rent a truck. Or hire movers. None of these options are ideal or convenient, but that’s where on demand storage with Zippboxx steps in.

While city dwellers are already well-versed in the on demand storage way of doing things, Long Island residents are newer to it. Here are the basics. When you utilize an on demand storage company all of the logistics of getting your belongings into, and eventually out of, storage are taken care of for you. The transportation, the man power, the facility and even some technological perks are thrown in there for customers saving them time, money and frustration.

Think of on demand storage as your one-stop-shop for all things storage, except you never even have to leave the house/apartment!

All on demand storage users need to do is go on the Zippboxx website and select the appropriate storage space plan in relation to how much stuff they need put into storage. Unsure of how much space you need? Check out our informational blog post that helps users visualize how much storage space they need. Once the plan is selected, users can order supplies (if needed) right through that customer portal, input their location and choose when they’d like their belongings to be picked up. It’s that straightforward!

Then, once the pickup date arrives, customers simply hand their packed up things over to a Zippboxx team member and let them handle it from there. Those collected belongings will be loaded up and transported safely to the Zippboxx storage facility and then photographed, barcoded and uploaded onto that customer’s account for easy viewing.

Eventually when that customers wants all of their belongings, or just some of them, delivered back, all they need to do is login to their account and select what they want delivered to their door and when. All of this can be achieved with just a few clicks on a connected device.

You might be wondering why someone living on Long Island, where there is undoubtedly more space than other nearby regions of New York, even needs additional storage. Well there are lots of reasons why, here are just a few.

Downsizing

With a large population of people over the age of fifty living on the Island, many are empty nesters who are downsizing from their large households to smaller condos, townhouses and apartments. With less living space those people are in need of a secure place to store all of the stuff they (and their children!) have accumulated throughout the years.

Decluttering

With extra space, comes extra stuff! When people have empty space they tend to fill it up and that is very true of those living on Long Island. Clutter is chaotic though, and studies have been shown that clutter negatively affects those surrounded by it so many people are trying to cut out their clutter.

Home Staging

Since Long Island is an expensive place to live, many people are in the process of, or considering, selling their home. In order to sell their home though, they need the property to look as presentable and attractive as possible. Part of creating that illusion is by staging the home, taking out some of the stuff and putting it somewhere else for the time being.

Junk Removal

Many Long Islanders have garages, sheds, attics, basements and other rooms of their house that are full of junk. Junk that they don’t know what to do with, and junk that they want to get rid of. Since Zippboxx also offers junk removal and donation services, that task can be taken care of quickly by a team of professionals.

Interim Storage

For those in between residences, off-site storage space is key. It gives those individuals the freedom to stay somewhere else in the meantime without all of their stuff in tow, and it allows them to move everything into their new place at their own pace instead of being overwhelmed by everything all at once.
